The documentary was filmed on his 2002 summer tour (a surprising co-headlining jaunt with his Van Halen predecessor, David Lee Roth). Director Gil Bettman shot more than 300 hours of footage. Behind-the-scenes footage and interviews with his band members and Van Halen bass guitarist Michael Anthony are edited among the songs.
Featured tracks include solo hits like "I Can't Drive 55" and "Heavy Metal," Montrose's "Rock Candy," and Van Halen's "Runaround," "Best of Both Worlds," "Poundcake," "When It's Love," and "Top of the World" along with Bob Dylan, the Troggs, and Led Zeppelin covers.
Besides Anthony, other special guests include Ted Nugent, former Extreme vocalist and Hagar's ill-fated Van Halen replacement Gary Cherone, Kid Rock, and pro wrestler Randy "Macho Man" Savage.
